It would seem like ( I concur) cant get a simple answer, thats because there isnt one and its a case of just do as you are told or be quiet, now the member is a well respected long term member, and should be treated that way,

Thats the reason I spoke out last time. I have to say though, it seems like only one person is moderating ( whether or not you agree with that strength of moderating or not). I don't even know what the original post was that got 9 so worked up. They are plenty of peeps over there that ( I think) would find this forum a far more relaxed place. If we have differences, its all comes out in the open and by and large, thats it, we dust ourselves down and move on, same as in real life.

I guess I know where you are talking about, but while it might be nice to have more members and I am sure many would enjoy it here and be great assets there are others I personally would feel uncomfortable with. I stopped even looking there never mind logging on because when people post they get nothing but ridicule, or rudeness some feel because they have been members for a long time they can say whatever they like to newcomers and it is OK.
Here well we have a laugh, we are rude to people when we get to know them well enough as to what they can and can't take or understand where we are coming from. I think in general this is a warm and welcoming place to visit. We were suspicious of newcomers when this forum first started and with good cause as there were so many out to cause trouble and put us down, but I think we have stood the test of time and anyone who wants to join in will be more than welcome and if they just want to 'lurk' they are also welcome, one of these days something will grab their interest enough for them to post.
As for Moderating, what is that, Cam does the prettifying, Mermaid moves a post if and when it annoys here which is very rarely and I have forgotten even how to get into the back office
We are grown ups, we should be able to moderate ourselves without the need for a carrot or stick.
