Re: What are you doing today??
They should have had advance notices of those roadworks rather than turning a feckin corner and get stuck in it

And you had better look out for the traffic tomorrow, Hibs play Dumbarton at home, so there will be two or three more cars on the road going to that...

Don't know the name of the road Minty. If you go to the Leith end of Easter road and swing left. It was just there. There is a statue of Queen Victoria outside as building nearby. Not sure what the building is as they are renovating itAdam Mint wrote:Was it on Leith Walk ?

Just booked a couple of nights at the Ballachulish Hotel in Glencoe for 9th & 10th March. Ballachullish means "place of the narrows", which is why there used to be a ferry here until 1975 before the bridge across the seal loch (Loch Leven) opened.

Fabulous day today, the sun was splitting the sky and Auld Reekie looked her best, Val trailed me around the shops for odds and ends and then we went to Cafe Andaluz for lunch [paella] , it was great , they have closed George St heading east and put up what could best be described as conservatories outside most of the restaurants looks very nice and it will be magic in the Summer, since we came home 3 weeks ago we have had glorious sunshine every day it;s just a shame it is a wee bit chilly, had rain one night but it cleared up by mid day

Re: What are you doing today??
It was lovely today Bill, I fell on my arse on someone's front step, it was covered in ice! My army training automatically kicked in though and I had my right hand down to save myself before I hit the deck. I could see the woman was thinking "he's well fit", but Trish was in the car so I left her looking after me longingly...

Val had a fall today as well, she went to have a look in Hamilton &Inches and went over on her ankle, needless to say I was well out of credit card reach so two other guys helped her up, just a twisted ankle ,so no damage done to Val nor bank accountThe Lone Ranger wrote:It was lovely today Bill, I fell on my arse on someone's front step, it was covered in ice! Re: What are you doing today??
Fixed starter motor today, I think. Little clutch thing on the back had seized so it wasnt throwing the gear into the flywheel. I have a new tub of grease I bought the other day so I will give it a liberal dose when the WD40 dries out. Salt water innit.

Think you were in Duke Street, the statues at the foot (bottom) of Leith Walk where it meets Duke Street and Junction Street, the building behind Victoria was a Woolworths to the right and a wallpaper shop to te left when I was a kid, then they built the Kirkgate shopping center to the side of it, it's a shithole,,,
The reason I asked if it was Leith Walk was because when I was up there at the turn of the year we took a drive round Edinburgh/Leith and got stuck in a major trafic jam as Leith Walk was all dug up again,,, I say again cos when the Edinburgh tram project started trams were meant to run down Leith Walk and it was dug up for a couple of years while they rerouted drains, cables, etc, then the project went tits up and the trams never got there, shame...
