Oops, think spellcheck may have switched itself off...
poi t = point
rheplace = place
Last Callets = Las Caleta
baskcally = basically
boldeds = boulders
he = the
Bottom line, weather was as wild as my spelling...

Re: What are you doing today??
Been under back of new campervan dismantling just about everything which of course wont come off for the past few days just so I can change the cambelt. Dont know if I told you but it did start but was blowing clouds of smoke and wouldnt accelerate at all. I eventually found TDC, it was about one third of an engine rotation away from where it should be when the camshaft is in its locking position. How it ever started like that I shall never know but hopefully no valves are damaged. Wont know until I put new cambelt on, line it all up correctly and put everything else back on, including the friggin exhaust pipe. On the plus side I have had a good opportunity being under there to have a good look round for rust and can see none whatsoever. Shame the body panels havent faired so well but never mind....... Who dares wins.

Re: What are you doing today??
Does that mean that whoever changed the timing belt last, didn't align it properly or can it slip off it's original settings?

Re: What are you doing today??
Can only slip if it's slack, which it shouldn't be, maybe a pulley bearing has gone.

Have you tried kicking one of the tyres? Preferably a front one.

Re: What are you doing today??
When I got the van the cover was off the cambelt but I dont know if someone has tightened it, certainly didnt line it all up again thats for sure. I have a new tensioner for it as well with the new belt. Interestingly someone has adapted the water pump pulley as well although thats on a seperate belt. 3 bolts on the waterpump but the pulley had 4 holes in it originally that has been adapted for 3. Cant see a proper VW garage doing that!
