Re: What are you doing today??
Called to price another 2 jobs this evening one small one large. I have now added 10% onto my prices cos I'm getting to the stage where I can't cope with the amount of exteriors. FMR, if I didn't get both of them on the spot. Deposits paid this evening. I might buy a van with big floodlights so we can work in the dark.

Me too you must be good though, price the next one sky high if you don’t have time to do it can guarantee you will get it -always works like that xMcqueen wrote:Make hay while the sun shines D. also if i got 2 jobs on the spot without having to give gas and air i would think i am not charging enough3rdforum wrote:Called to price another 2 jobs this evening one small one large. Re: What are you doing today??
This is whats causing the influx of inquiries I'm pretty sure. It shouldn't work. the proper length of a video should be 25 to 28 seconds. this is 67. I reckon the music has a big part to play in it.

Re: What are you doing today??
Yesterday was pension day and for the second month in a row they have given more??? Makes me wonder who is gonna pay in the end.
Ordered heating oil on Saturday, 1000 litres. Now normally you have to wait 3 weeks unless you pay extra but it arrived yesterday! Not complaining mind...... And just 24p per litre, about half what it normally costs.

Had an hour in the garden under a lovely blue sky with wall to wall sunshine, it was just like being in Mallorca without the pool , cava , quiz, Estrella Damm, walk along the prom, tapas lunch , no it wasn't like Mallorca at all

Re: What are you doing today??
In back yard today and I can hear water. Shit, outside tap leak! Or to be more precise the bodge I done on it years ago had burst, (rubber car heater hose). I have a water meter so lucky I caught it straight away. Now ages ago I did buy a proper connector for it so set about installing it. Result? It bloody leaks! Modern plastic rubbish. New bit of heater hose fitted now.

Re: What are you doing today??
yesterday I had an hour and a half of a Zoom meeting ( well actually 1hr 23 minutes cos I couldn't get the sound turned on ), with Jill Holtz, a Scottish woman who had won global awards for this My Kids Time . and 2 other companies. Christ, but she didn't half tell me a few home truths!!. Anyway, she asked who was my target audience . I said, high end individuals like Reg McQueen in Leeds. she nodded knowingly and told me that I was setting the bar too high there . Anyway she asked how I was targeting them. I said I didn't know. What followed was an hour of gold! Complete rebrand is on the cards! She said and I quote " The Housedok Painting is gimmicky. Would a high net worth person stop and research you? No!". I have had 5 emails from her since with her introducing me to 2 other professional photographers and website designers AND she isn't charging me a penny ( government is paying her cos of this covid debacle ) AND she told me that if I stump uo 250 euros, government wiill add 2250 euros more which means I can get a new website and mentoring for a year on how to run it and a professional photographer to take photos of my previous work and all it will cost me is 250 euros. Feck it, but the Housedok brand is well known now and i've put a lot of work into it,, but while the clients are well off, they aren't in the bracket of where e.g. this covid crisis won't affect them. She also told me I would need to be prepared to travel and stay overnight on top end jobs ( don't really want to) and add the travel expenses onto the cost. Have to get my thinking cap on.

Hmmm....decisions. I'd stay where you are to be honest. Your order book is full and no sign of slowing down. If you can make a decent profit with what you're doing, why give yourself more grief than you need?

Re: What are you doing today??
Some trades people down south work on a grand (£1000) a day, Its the job and i want it now that matters,
You get what you negotiate not what you deserve, people associate how good a job is by the price it cost, like oow how much was your outside ? £7000 wow must be good Or how much was your outside £275 err that must be shite, Its all in their heads,

Re: What are you doing today??
I can't help it Cam . Its just in me to constantly improve and evolve. About 10 years back, I shot a 1 over par round on a course I never saw before. 2 days later I was getting a swing analysis done but a professional and slow mo video cos I wasn't happy the way i was hitting the ball. ( I hit 15 out of the 18 greens in regulation ffs and I still dissected it )Campbell Brodie wrote:3rdforum wrote:yesterday I had an hour and a half of a Zoom meeting ( well actually 1hr 23 minutes cos I couldn't get the sound turned on ), with Jill Holtz, a Scottish woman who had won global awards for this My Kids Time . and 2 other companies.
