Re: What are you doing today??
Went to the Continental Xmas Market in Galway. Went in by train, myself & the 3 kids. 15 euro for a 7 minute journey!! Paid 8 euro for a steak burger with salad and relish. Wasn't going to part with that kind of money at first but the smell was making me famished. The burger was great. Limousine beef on a ciabata bun apparently. I had that @ 4.00pm and am still stuffed.

They had a McDonalds. Little fella gone mental on a sugar overload. Got him a big bag of jellies at one of the stalls.

Re: What are you doing today??
we're looking at a total of 2734.76 in March provided there are no other increases in the mean time. Its laughable. The kids are costing 230 euro each but there isn't a private children's hospital in the country! Think we will scale back on the benefits and go for a plan @ the same price as this year. Only saving grace, there is medical travel insurance built in but nothing for delays, lost baggage etc so that means in reality, we'll have to take out travel insurance as well

Re: What are you doing today??
there is a public health system but its creaking near the point of collapse. 12 month ago, it took 5 hours for my wee lad to be seen with suspected appendicitis. And that was with a referral letter from the GP stating her suspicions. He had to go in thro the adult A&E cos they closed the pediatric one due to cutbacks. We actually drove past a private hospital where they guarantee that you will be seen by a consultant within an hour. My private health premiums are propping up the public system. Last Xmas, my mum was supposed to get a private room in a public hospital ( the lines are blurred between the two). She ended up in a big room with 5 other beds and was charged private bed rate ( over a grand a night). You guys seriously don't know how good you have it.

Re: What are you doing today??
I recall when BUPA etc hit Britain, thought it a big error, concentrate on one good system rather than piss around, just cos someone has a lot of cash should they get preference...
Oh, was a member of BUPA, had no choice came with a job I had, tried to jump the NHS queue a couple of times, no joy, oh, you had an headache once before, oh and you hurt your back pre joining, back to NHS for you boy, never got a thing out of it...

Re: What are you doing today??
They like consultations and mri scans etc, anything medical the guy you payed to see usually takes over the hospital and shakes your hand afterwards, All the stuff you should get on the NHS,
Sit in a NHS waiting room and chances are your the only one that paid into the system, Shambles

Re: What are you doing today??
If you are young and have a back ache better off going nowhere, if you later in life have an accident and its someone elses fault, you already have back problems.
