Gypsy wrote:Learnt about how the social system works today....... Now I am taking daily meds these cost me €33 in the Farmacia so I huffed and puffed and showed my pensionista card. Oh get a repeat from the Urgencies opposite the bus station the tablets will then only cost you €3.
So today I went, big signs bring translator if you don´t speak Spanish. OMG .... So I take my ticket, wait my turn and then ask "prescripción para éstos por favor" and flash my card. She clicks away on her computer. You don´t have a doctor here she says in perfect English, this is Los Cristianos which is different to Arona. You need to go up to Arona town and they will give you the prescription.
So at least I now know that I am in the system and it is just a matter of getting up to Arona, hope they are as helpful. It is amazing what a smile and an attempt at the language will get you.
Still should be grateful been here 9 years and this is the first time I have tried getting to see a doctor. (unlike you sickly lot
good lass, the Green hospital gave me a prescription for Alberts meds but it was a private one. I took it to med centre in Adeje, you Defoe have to have a translator. Ispoke a bit of español and got an appointment with a doctor 30m mins later i had the social one in my hand plus all his other meds on it. 408euro on private...40.80 on social, 9 medications not a bad health system really.

Just back up from having an hour under the clouds, and just out of curiosity noticed that a lot sun beds were minus their pads ,on looking closer found that people had 2 or 3 pads per sunbeds, and we don't have many Eriks here so I wonder who is responsible ? couldn't be Brits by any chance , selfish gits

Talking about selfish gits.
Parked in Iceland car park this morning to buy a packet of Yorkshire Tea and then go over the road to Oceans 5 for chicken liver for the dogs. The car park is rough ground and it was pretty full. Someone had left a gap so people could get in and out and then this twonk parked in it. I went up to him and said, excuse me but if you park there you are blocking the access. He just said tough I can get out! I did mutter a few very unladylike words through the window of his Volvo, obviously they were louder than I intended as the guy in the van next to him said I'll move to let you out.

Re: What are you doing today??
Just back from a quiz with Shona. Christ, some of the questions!!! For U13's!!!!
What fictional radio/television/movie and comic strip character was played by an irishman, an englishman, a scotsman and an australian?
Yerevan is the capital of what country?
Pertussis is more commonly called what?
What is the capital of Ecuador?
What 3 digit number often appears on the computer screen when the browser is unable to access the server?
Who wrote "Under The Hawthorn Tree"?
For U13's????
The winning team only got 5 wrong. 55/60 Mmmmm..
Shona's team got second with 41/60.
I was standing beside a group of 5 teachers. They got 38/60!

Re: What are you doing today??
I noticed this ad came up while I was browsing Los Cris Apt. There is a link "about Sam & Clair". Click on that and the following will appear "Guestbook comments from the manager". Just underneath "excellent place", click on the link that says "continue reading". Read the comment and take note of who is mentioned. He's feckin famous!! This ad wasn't even about PDLA!

Another excellent stay at Tenerife Royal Gardens!!! This was our fourth time at this complex and will continue to use this complex whenever we holiday in Tenerife. We stayed in a ground floor apartment this time, CO-15, which is owned by Reg Dixon. Its a one bed apartment with everything you need for a self catering stay, it was clean and very spacious. We had about 3 days of sunny weather out of seven whilst there and although there are plenty of sunbeds available there was the usual 10am rush to get the best spots, even though we noticed on more than one occasion that people were reserving sunbeds and not using them till the afternoon!!! I Highly recommend this complex as its in a great spot near the beach and a variety of restaurants and evening entertainment available nearby. Cant wait to go back.

Re: What are you doing today??
Cover is more important than price, all very well saving a shilling, but when your house burns down you dont want them bassa's saying your not covered for it, Fully comp everything, no iffs no buts
