Or the toaster, mate had just finished fitting a new kitchen, one of his kids is making toast, toaster times out and makes to eject bread/toast, somehow the bread jams, this in turn keeps the toaster switched on, bread catches fire and scorches wall unit underside and door...

Booked a Renault Traffic SWB for Wednesday. Getting rid of the bunk beds my kids used to have. Laura, my youngest wants them for her flat.
Also got loads of old crappy furniture to take up to the council tip, so two birds with one stone.

Yes indeed a toaster is a serious fire hazard. Of the four fires I have experienced in houses over the years 2 were started by children, one by Patsy, actually that was just smoke damage, and one where a tv caught alight and set fire to the curtains. All put out by me before Howards mates turned up.

Re: What are you doing today??
Today the usual, but with a horrid story thrown in, Phone call from the garage " Reg somebody dropped dead and his van is for sale" - Whoosh, 06 Mercedes Vito very very nice, deal with the son i'm told, so i rang him up passed on my condolences, asked him what they thought and ended up somewhere near price wise, They were happy and i wasnt too upset, met the son did the deal and he ran me to pick it up, on the way he told me his father was a milkman and fit as anything, i asked about the round and he said they had a buyer straight away, but the woman that he employed to do the books and collect the dosh every week went out and collected it early and kept the money,
Then she sells the list of customers to another milkman, so the round is now worthless, Hows about that,
The human race never fails to amaze me, , Lad said he is more upset about that than his father dying,
Tell the police, thats theft and also tell them what else she has done, if they have one ounce of compassion they will see to her, Bitch,

Know in Edinburgh if you turned up at the council tip in a commercial vehicle (a van etc) irrespective if it is your own private rubbish in it you are turned away...
Down here (Manchester) I know the council give you three free pickups a year of bulky items, you just have to call them and arrange, accept they will not drop off item at your daughters though...

Sh*t! I never thought of that!
Been off line for a wee while as I had to re-route my telephone line. 30 years ago, when I got my first double glazing, they just jammed the wire in between the window and the stonework. These new window guys that are coming are more professional; they want it out of the way altogether. I knew my trade would come in handy sometime...

Re: What are you doing today??
As Arkright would say "Its been a funny sort of day" Sort of do i have to keep doing this, post holiday blues i think,
I seem to be surrounded by dead people lately, My old pal George looked a bit fed up this morning, i happened to have a tape messure in my pocket so i started to messure him up, he burst out laughing and said "Welcome back Reg" i said "Dont get comfortable it must be your turn soon" , Funny thing is we will all have a turn sooner or later, On that note i'm off to bed before it is my turn, cant fall over in bed can you
