Re: What are you doing today??
Back from Wells and dinghy patched up. We pumped 3 gallons of water and oil out of Roys sump and we have brought the batterys home to get charged up but engine is turning over so its looking good. Called in to the Albatros for a pint which is an old steel sailing ship which is tied up on the quay. It actually gets top billing on Trip Advisor as best restaurant in Wells. Its owned by Dutch peeps and you can have pancakes, pancakes or pancakes, or beer, beer and beer. On Saturday they have a live blues band playing...... Hmmmm. The bar is about 25 foot square and 7 foot high, good job I'm already half deaf then.

Yeah, and a Harmonica wont take up too much space either. To get in you have to climb backwards down a ladder type thingy, very nautical.

Re: What are you doing today??
I was hoping some young dolly birds in short skirts might arrive but sadly Wells has the same age group of visitors as Tenerife. The youngsters probably come out at 9pm, already tanked up on cider and wine so there is hope......... There were some Yanks on the top deck remarking that they have much bigger dredgers in the States, I resisted the urge to tip him overboard.
Anyway, we have some fecking big windmills.
My car failed its MOT on brake pipes and I ordered 25 foot of pipe, 20 nipples, eeeeeeee, and a pipe flaring tool from ebay for the princely sum of £21 delivered. They have duly arrived so today I will be scrabling about on the floor under my car complaining that I'm just getting too old for this malarky. Still, more productive than sitting outside a bar in the sunshine getting pissed.......

Re: What are you doing today??
Just about to go sight seeing, thinking of getting a couple of them Boris Bikes, was a bit dubious about going to see Mamma Mia last night, thinking how does the stage show follow the film, well I was wrong, absoultly brilliant, would have sat through it again...
Food wise arrived, walked down to the theatre just to find out where it was, went in to a pub, the Wellington, just round the corner from the theatre, having pint noticed the pub grub comming up looked the part, had a look at the menu, yip steak was on it, booked a table for the upstairs resturents for later, ended up with a window table looking down The Strand great view, great food, reasonable price, not pretentious, just what the doctor ordered, yum...

Re: What are you doing today??
Got up early, well in the pub for eleven, free map, worked out route, two Boris Bikes purchased, off we set, got satnav on phone set for Buckingham Palace, twenty minutes it says, next thing it's taking us round in circles, do a U turn here, there etc, go back to where we've been, etc,,, got caught up in a cycle protest thing at Trafalgar Square, thank feck we were on bikes,,, turns out satnav on phones is shit in London cos of the hight of the buildings it keeps cutting out when your peddling in a straight line and should be taking the next left but dont get the instruction, took us a hour and a half, saw a lot of London didn't mean to... Then dumped the bike and walked down the South Bank, just getting ready now for round two,,, Soho.............

Re: What are you doing today??
Took batteries down to Roys boat this morning at Wells next the Sea and eventually got it started after some faffing about and cleaning cables.
Then it overheated. Turned out the impeller in the raw water pump was well fecked, £28.50 for a new bit of rubber, jeez. Still at least thats sorted. And we had a nice day bobbing about in the harbour.
Then I took my car back to the MOT place to see how much for new rear brake pipes, £100 they said. They got the job. Old Merc survives for another year.

Re: What are you doing today??
Think I may have bought a shit magnet, my new car is silver and for some reason it is attracting attention from the dive bombing fraternity in the bird community, there are two possible causes the first is the colour of the car and the second is I could have upset the little gits by cutting down half the tree in the back garden next to where I park the car, any thoughts???

Re: What are you doing today??
Birds always sit on the same branch or whatever to shit, had the same problem in Tenerife so i bought a windmill and strapped it to the balustrade, Well it kept vanishing - probably the wind
So i just tiled all round so it was easy to clean, Had great fun watching them come iin to land and go pissing on the tiles
So to summerize cut the branches above the car off

Re: What are you doing today??
Met my aunt for the 1st time in 15 years. She lives in Farnborough, Kent. 80 years of age, looks late 50's tops. Walks 4 miles a day and uses an ab roller for fecks sake. Volunteers at "help the aged" or something like that 30 hours a week! FFS!!! She got a cochlear implant last year but she's not too impressed with it so she is learning lip reading now as well. Jesus, I've seen some active OAP's but she takes the biscuit. And, couldn't shut her up. She never stopped nattering on! Has anyone heard of Park Holidays?? "23 Caravan holiday Parks across the southern UK coastline" ( according to the website ). That's her son's business. She is after bringing her ex to court cos he claimed half of everything. She fought him tooth and nail cos he was her 2nd husband ( 1st one died) and everything was in her name from the beginning. Also, he was handy with his fists. No way was she going to be bettered by him. I came away thinking I've just walked through a hurricane. I hope I have that energy at 80. ( I hope I've that energy at 44 )
