What are you doing today??

Rear brakes on Campervan, they are binding, struggle to go over 40mph in this wind as it is.   Took one drum off and the little spring that holds the shoe on is fecked, or rather the bit that goes over the end of the spring, couldnt find one in my shed then noticed the spring on the other side had a squashed washer holding it on. Aha, a previous owner with a brain!!!! I have fabricated a better looking one.   Check the other side tomorrow but that wheel wasnt getting hot.

Well today Mathew, I have just stopped pissing myself laughing, a couple of hours back we're at the hotel pool, it's getting a bit hot (and I'm a bit fragile) so I say to Annie I'm goina head back up the room for a bit cool, rooms got air con, Annie says she's gonna sit in reception cos we get Internet there and she's gonna catch up with her mates, much, much later she still ain't back in the room, I know she ain't got any cash on her so she ain't gone shopping, eventually she turns up, conversation:-

How you get lost coming from reception to the room...

I get in lift, hit the button for the fifth floor, get out, and our room ain't there, room number 527 is where our room 56-  should be, so I go all around level 5 looking for room 56- thinking I've come up on a different lift but highest room number is 550,,, so I go back to reception...........

I should possibly point out at this stage hotel Columbus consists of two near identical blocks...

Need I say more...

Sitting in the bar opposite the hotel,,, internets shit in the hotel, only works in the reception area and even then keeps cutting out,,, that said hotel is hammered so probably hundreds trying to use it...

Yesterday I was down at the reception desk, one of our room key cards had stopped working, old couple in front of me had obviously just booked in and were not happy with the room they had been allocated, receptionist says, we are fully booked, but if you come down  to the reception desk early tomorrow morning we will swap you to a room of someone who is booking out,,, I think she is being pretty reasonable with them, she ain't saying your stuck with what you've got, but the old couple want moved now, again the girl explains the hotel is fully booked and she can't do anything until tomorrow, they eventually accept what she is saying...

Then later in the day while watching the Grand Prix got speaking to a guy, he's saying his hotel is hammered, says almost everyone he has spoken to has been diverted from  Sham El Sheikh...

Back on the room allocation thing,,, once we got the booking fixed out with On The Beach we went on the hotels own web site, went on the "contact us" bit, sent a message asking for a top floor room (don't want any nosy feckers above us), plus south facing either overlooking the pool or with a sea view...
Gets to reception to book in, I show girl copy of e-mail we had sent, she says, yes we have e-mail, gets to room,,,,,,, it's exactly what we asked for, top floor, south facing, sea view...

Didn't expect that...
